CLC : Chapter 3 Kehwa in dal lake

We reach Srinagar in a pleasant evening and we manage to find a nice hotel called Shangri-La. Yep at least we would say the name perfectly suites Srinagar undoubtingly its an earthly paradise,we are not sure if it is harmonious still.

We thought of having a relaxed walk in the city and have dinner at one of the famous joints. We were bothered by the heavy army security at each street corner. Crossing them uncomfortably we reach near Krishna dhaba. For our surprise the place was so happening that you would easily forget the calm deserted streets we crossed. After enjoying some parathas and rotis we head back to our cozy hotel. After quickly running through the maps , Gas station we plan our next day stop in Kargil not knowing that it might take couple of more days to reach there.

Early morning we rush to the infamous dal lake. We took the “Shikaar” (Boat ride in the dal lake). We were one of the early birds to enjoy the ride. Dal lake was a wonderful experience. There were umpteen house boats carrying tags from all over the world from las vegas to France. We also saw lot of resident people in them along with the market guys. As we were early we saw mothers taking their kids to school across the lake.



The most important thing which crossed our minds were how pretty the ladies and handsome the guys were. Easily every guys is handsome than Hritik and Every girl prettier than Katrina. After enjoying couple of spots in the lake we entered the market place. As we were early we enjoyed the site of people setting up their stores in the “Floating market” of Dal lake . We stop at one of the boat shop to check Kashmiri garments.



We were welcomed by a Kehwa board in a chai shop. The chai wala requested us to enjoy Kehwa. Hmmm What a wonderful thing to taste early in the morning. With amazing combination of Badam , Elachi and unknown ingredients it was tasting heavenly in the cold. After Kehwa we did some shopping adding to the existing luggage in the magic vehicle.



Completing Shikar we headed toward Sonamarg where amazing thing awaits us. Trying to find a fuel station we come all way back to city crossing the whole crowded dal lake. Picking some fruits we head towards sonamarg.



By this time the frequency of army bunkers have increased. We were getting used to fully loaded army guys. We were really thanking them making us enjoy this beautiful place. Once we moved further we enjoyed the first view of snow capped mountains. Such an incredible feeling being surrounded by snow capped mountain and also heading towards them fast.




By this time we were getting disconnected from rest of world. We were out of mobile phone reach, Out of internet connection. Our world was just getting confined to magic car and its amazing surrounding.

We happened to cross a small water stream which has washed the roads away. We were very careful in crossing the water stream, we didn’t really think that the mother of these streams awaits us.We reached Sonamarg Tajiwas glaciers in middle of the day. We decide to enjoy the Snow Sledging not knowing what’s awaiting us.
